"The Fault In Our Stars"

In the world of book adaptations, there are few examples of movies that can truly be compared to their fictional counterparts. Books are of curse more of a time commitment, however they definitely offer more details and they often give the readers the chance to view the world from a character or plot's perspectives. there is something about reading a book that is extremely intimate whereas a movie screening is not.

The fault in our stars is obviously an intimate read, but the director Josh Boone does  a wonderful job of bringing John Green's best selling novel to the screen. Instead of exploiting the book and make major changes, Boone recognised that Green is a witty writer. So he simply cut out the fat from the novel, removed some of the minor details, characterisations and back stories that would have been heavy for the theatrical audience catching the story for the first time. While those who have read Green's book since its release in 2012 might miss a few scenes, lines and sequences, Green's work is evident and mostly intact on the screen.

My birthday

My birthday is on the 12th of September, and some friends organised a surprise birthday party for me before my class started on that day. It was fun except the being caked part of course (had whipping cream on my bangs!! >.< )


but i had a nice day no one ever organised a surprise birthday party for me so it was great; I've got a book as birthday gift "the book thief". I haven't yet found time to read it yet because of assignments and all but once I do I might  post about it.

My name is Selvi i also go by the nickname of Sel but some wicked friends of mine also call me selfie. I'm a first year at the Open University of Mauritius and is going for the course of Ba (hons) Graphic Design Multimedia and Hypermedia.

I'm an avid reader of both books and manga and also have to admit that I watch a lot of anime (and that to my parents great displeasure).I finally decided to seriously start writing a book; I've written quite a lot of fan fictions during my high school days (even though i never had the courage of posting them). I'm also going to suggest books (for notice I'm a big paranormal romance fan), manga, anime and even song that catch my attention. You are most welcome to read them and to comment.
